The 40th Plenary Meeting of the Middle East and North Africa Financial Action Task Force (MENAFATF), held in Amman, Jordan, officially adopted Somalia’s technical compliance report as part of its mutual evaluation on 7 May 2025.

The mutual evaluation process began in 2023 and concluded in 2025, during which Somalia demonstrated notable progress in strengthening its legal, regulatory, and institutional frameworks to combat money laundering and the financing of terrorism.

The adoption of the report marks a significant milestone for Somalia, reflecting its commitment to aligning with international standards. Somalia is now expected to address the remaining gaps identified in the technical compliance report in line with FATF procedures.
